A departure from writing to take deliberate pause. A moment to reflect the life of my my too-soon-gone sister, Amanda, and a necessary pause of reflection to recognize how applicable these words are in situations where you may be taking otherwise cherished moments for granted.
Elwynn is still holding strong, yet somehow being armed with the knowledge she has mere weeks left in her life does not sit well with us. We have been mad scrambling on the best possible road trip scenarios to accommodate her, but somehow keep coming up short. We decided heading south down the California Coast would be the most appropriate, but it’s always in the back of our mind that we need to keep close proximity to a reputable veterinarian.
We brought Elwynn into our lives when our relationship was considerably new. Our love of one another recognized the need to channel our existential love to this dog. She literally saved our relationship. Nine years later, we are once again shifting to the inevitability of impermanence.
Love brought us together. Love will tear us apart, again.
